Hyundai presents its vision of Smart City (II)

HMG's smart city concept also envisions a sustainable green city where large natural areas are preserved. The urban center will have recreational forests, parks and a reservoir to supply the city with water. To ensure carbon neutrality, the city's main energy source will be hydrogen, distributed through smart grids using hydrogen fuel cell generators to power the buildings.

Hyundai Motor Group announced its vision for future cities and support for smart mobility solutions at CES 2020. Since then, the Group has rapidly developed smart mobility solutions.

Innovative electric vehicles

The group showcased innovative electric vehicles such as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6, while also announcing plans to build special purpose vehicles (PBVs) and robotaxis in the future. Motional, the Group's autonomous driving technology joint venture, is currently developing robotaxis for commercialization in 2023. The group's AAM subsidiary, Supernal, has recently unveiled its eVTOL vehicle cabin concept, which is currently under development with the goal of commercialization in 2028.

The group is also working closely with governments around the world to make cities smarter. The group signed a memorandum of understanding with the Singapore government agency JTC on a transport model project that aims to improve logistics efficiency using autonomous driving, electric vehicle, AI and big data.

In short, HMG Smart City is a green and sustainable urban concept based on autonomous mobility, advanced air mobility, robotics and hydrogen fuel cell technology.

The group is uniquely positioned to provide smart, sustainable mobility solutions and a sustainable energy source.
