Sony's PlayStation 5 Slim in 3 new colors

PlayStation 5 Slim has three new colors: red, blue and silver. This slimmer version of the Sony console debuts more eye-catching colors, which of course represent a huge change in the design level. Users may be waiting for the announcement of a PlayStation 5 Pro, but Sony has decided that it is better to offer a greater variety of colors.

The new external appearance does not change any of the internal features, the PlayStation 5 is still a piece of clothing. The only difference is that the PlayStation 5 Slim is 30% smaller, which makes it suitable for living rooms where the TV cabinet is small.

Being a PS5 but thinner, its features are similar and in fact it has a 1 TB SSD hard drive along with a removable Blu-Ray disc. The new colors will be added to the model available from November 2023.

Sony himself has stated that the changes made are only aesthetic; in fact, those new colors are also applied to the console controls. These will now be blue, red and silver in color. In the announcement video of these new colors you can see in detail the motifs that inspired these shades.

The console has a completely new look with these three colors added to the design catalog of the PlayStation 5. In addition, this novelty brings to the table the existence of many other colors that may be launched in the coming months.

The personalization part of the PlayStation 5 has still not been explored to a great extent, now it seems that Sony wants to change that and the first step it has taken is these three new colors that are so naturally integrated into the PlayStation 5 Slim. It can be said that such a natural way is frightening.

The availability of this newly designed console is not known, but it is expected that Sony will provide several more details later this month. Meanwhile, it is interesting to see how the latest generation of consoles are also aesthetic elements for homes.

PS5 Pro

Everything points to 2024 being the year Sony will launch its PS5 Pro. This console, which would live alongside the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition, would have a key feature that would put it ahead of its smaller sisters. Also, betting on this console would be the main asset and not because of the competition from Microsoft.

The card that Sony wants to play to put the rest of the new generation consoles in its place is to own the technology of reconstructing and creating frames. What Sony is looking for is to ensure that the PS5 Pro is able to offer the same with NVIDIA's DLSS Super Resolution technology.

Sony's PS5 Pro will have a secret technology that will be the key to its success

Bringing this kind of advancement to a console is no easy task, as leaks suggest that, in addition to software, the PS5 Pro will have specific hardware to make intelligent image scaling and reconstruction possible. Expected results should be on par with NVIDIA.

This technology is really useful for PS5 Pro to be able to provide the highest image quality. In fact, the aim is to lower the rendering source so that the performance is always the best, but then the image is scaled to a higher quality.

A clear example is rendering at 720p for processing at 1440p or 4K. Doing this without destroying the image is difficult, and so far only NVIDIA has had this capability. Sony wants to fight back and make the PS5 Pro the first console to feature similar technology from the PC graphics manufacturing company.

The logic behind this technological advance is that the PS5 Pro consumes minimal core resources when processing the game, all the power is concentrated on maintaining a stable frame rate per second in lighting along with ray tracing.

As for the Sony console's release date, the PS5 Pro is expected to be released sometime in September 2024.

Competition from Microsoft

Most gamers out there are sure to be enjoying a very entertaining Sunday afternoon since a new Xbox Games Showcase was held, an event dedicated exclusively to Starfield, one of the most anticipated games of the year. We are talking about the presentation of Xbox, the case of this new Xbox Series S console, which is the star of this segment and which has a slight improvement over the already available model.

For those of you not in the know, the Xbox Series S is Microsoft's cheapest current-generation console, with the Xbox Series X being its most complete and most expensive platform. At the company's last event, it was the Series S that took all the spotlight, as we were able to see its new version in black, called Carbon Black, which is a platform very similar to the look of the Series X console in us.

Beyond the announcement, as we mentioned, this new Series S was released in September last year and, in terms of its price, costs $349. It is also worth noting that the new version of the Xbox console comes with a controller in the same color.
