The fight against graffiti is now done with drones

In Washington, an initiative arises to erase graffiti painted in areas that are difficult to access. They have adapted some drones that were being used to clean windows and roofs.

For some it is street art while for others it is crime, graffiti is an independent form of art that emerged on the streets as a form of expression.

That does not mean that it is illegal, and is considered an act of punishable vandalism, which in many cases, rather than generating feelings like a painting hanging in a museum, dirtyes the city. For this reason, city councils and governments have been fighting this most savage form of art for years, the main measure being erasure.

To remove the paint, the cleaning teams use hoses with pressurized water, but there is a problem, and that is that one of the characteristics of graffiti is that it seeks risk, in addition to being a kind of competition between artists to see who can paint. in the most attractive and/or dangerous place.

Last month he passed a bill with a million-dollar budget to combat graffiti. This initiative had two aspects, on the one hand, equipping and improving traffic cameras to identify graffiti artists, but on the other hand, part of this budget is intended to test new ways to eliminate graffiti in high and difficult to access places that They have a high cost for the authorities.

They are using controlled drones to clean the streets of graffiti. The idea arose thanks to a cleaning company that designed drones so that they could clean windows and ceilings, and they have adapted them so that they can erase graffiti.
